Wake Up and Smell the Poop! Don Sullivan Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars
The world is flooded with so-called dog training experts, paraphernalia, and information. Cupboards and drawers are bursting with dog biscuits, devices and gadgets. Yet more dog owners than ever are desperately trying to create some semblance of peace and order within their homes amidst their out-of-control canines. Something is clearly afoul in the world of dog ownership and training!
In his new book Don Sullivan inspires readers to wake up and recognize the insidious forces undermining the realization of dog owners dreams, and he empowers them with an unprecedented array of knowledge and understanding to launch them to instant success with their own dogs. At times controversial and continually enlightening, Wake Up and Smell the Poop! proves that Don Sullivans approach to training dogs is far from ordinary.

User reviews about this book
Don's System Works!
I rescued a fat, hyper, anxious hairy hairless (oxymoron!)Chinese Crested. She had received no training, experienced very little exercise and her previous owner rehomed her because she had no time for her. Before committing to adopting this pooch I spent time with her on several walks and found she had a sweet disposition and would be a good fit for my family (my kids walked with us also). I had watch a lot of trainers via You Tube and I liked Don Sullivan's no nonsense approach. The command collar has been a valuable tool and very fee corrections were needed to get Lucy Liu's attention and within 2 walks she was no longer pulling like a banshee! She has lost weight, stopped chewing at herself, and her skin is clear. She is a beautiful little dog and has a naturally submissive and gentle personality. The collar has been a great training tool and is helping me to attain my goal of taking my dog on longer off leash walks. This book is a nice addition to the training videos. I really appreciated Don's approach to not using treats for training especially when my dog was overweight when I adopted her. Firm, fair and consistent wins the day!
I read this book AFTER using Don Sullivan's Perfect Dog Training System. This guy really knows what he's talking about. I can't believe how much our three year old Golden Retriever has learned in only four days, and she seems as excited about her accomplishments as we are! I just the author plans on writing more books.
