Strategic Seedbanks to Meet Fire Risks for Victorian Ash-Type Species (Report) Australian Forestry Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

Introduction The objective of this study was to investigate the economics of the Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) maintaining a large strategic seedbank of key eucalypt species to facilitate forest recovery following major fires in fire-sensitive forests of mountain ash (Eucalyptus regnans) and alpine ash (E. delegatensis). Some of the broader policy issues in relation to protection of the ash-type forests were presented in Ferguson (2009), a paper that builds on the results reported here.
