First Grave on the Right Darynda Jones Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

First Grave on the Right is the smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper.

Charley sees dead people. That's right, she sees dead people. And it's her job to convince them to "go into the light." But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e., murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she's been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.

This is a thrilling debut novel from Darynda Jones, an exciting newcomer to the world of paranormal romantic suspense.

First Grave on the Right is the winner of the 2012 Rita Award for Best First Book.

I could not help myself, I completely devoured this emotionally gripping, action packed adventure in one thrilling night of reading. Who needs sleep anyway, right! Charley is sexy, sassy and sarcastic (my three favorite S words) also has lots of inappropriate but marvelously funny thoughts. She was born with the job of being the Grim Reaper and has some interesting gifts that go along with it. She uses her talents as a PI helping solve her murders and with her advantage you think it would be easy, however it proves (specifically with this case) to be anything but easy. Looking forward to revisiting this magical and exciting world.

I actually came across book 9 of this series first...while reading the reviews I found out it was a series of books and decided to start with book one and I was not disappointed!! While I have only read the first book I can't wait to sink my teeth into the rest!! Absolutely fantastic writing and excellent story line.

I bought this book randomly and didn't expect much, but once I started I couldn't put it down. As soon as I finished, I had to run out and buy all of the books in the series. I have yet to find a character with Charley Davidson's shameless wit and spunk, which I think is perfect and endearing. Everyone needs to read this book (and the following ones as well)! How can anyone resist the combination of humor, suspense, action, and ROMANCE? I can't wait to add the eight book to my collection :)
