    I started reading this book desperate to have only 3 or 4 hours sleep without my baby waking. I started the method at 7 months old. 3 "hard" nights (he only cryed for 30 minutes or so) and by the fourth night he was sleeping much better, woke up only once but he fell asleep on his own. He is now 10 months old and he sleeps solid 11 hours without a sound. It has changed my mood, my sleep, my relationship with my husband, i recommend it 100%!!!

    I appreciated reading Dr. Ferber's explanation of baby sleep- especially regarding sleep associations. We used the progressive waiting approach when we moved our boys to their cribs. It was a very gentle and loving way to help them learn to fall asleep on their own. I was very skeptical with our first son, but desperate for him to sleep. With each of our children, it truly only involved one night of fussing (30 minutes- we checked and reassured at progressively longer intervals). They are now awesome sleepers- sleeping 11+ hours at night! I recommend this book to ALL my friends!
  • Read It Before You Knock It!!

    This method is not as cruel as some believe. If you actually read the book, you will find that Dr. Ferber is coming from a place of love and compassion for young children and their families. This method is designed with childrens' best long-term interests as the goal. It is certainly not "lazy" or "selfish" as some would say. It has done amazing things for my family. My child is better rested and more independent, and my relationship with my husband is less stressed. Please, please, read the book, not an article summarizing the Ferber method, before you try it. When you understand the related aspects of child development, psychology, and the science of sleep, you are much more likely to be successful using this method!!!
  • It Works!

    I began reading this book when my daughter was 3 months and sleeping in 2 hour increments. After a long two weeks her sleep cycles lengthened and by 5 months slept 10 hours every night in her own bed. Same for my youngest daughter, I stuck to Dr. Ferber's book and she is 7 months now and sleeps 11 hours a night in her own bed. Its not easy but his suggestions and theories work.

    There are many more alternative books out there with compassionate, loving methods. I would not recommend this book to any parent. Ever.
