I Flipping Love You Helena Hunting Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

From New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting comes I Flipping Love You, a love story about flipping houses, taking risks, and landing that special someone who’s move-in ready.

Rian Sutter doesn’t usually get hit on in the grocery store, but when she notices a sexy man in a suit checking her out, she thinks maybe it’s her lucky day. Either that or the suit has a thing for sweaty, yoga-pant wearing women with excellent price matching skills.

Turns out it’s neither.

Pierce Whitfield can’t believe his luck when he’s able to track down the woman who scratched up the paint job on his car at the scene of the crime. But when he confronts the hit and run hottie, he discovers there’s not just one, but two of them, and he’s been throwing accusations at the wrong twin.

As repair costs are negotiated, and the chemistry between them flares, Rian and Pierce find out they have more than mutual attraction in common. They’re both vying for the same pieces of prime real estate in The Hamptons and neither one plans to give up without a fight.

Can these passionate rivals turn up the heat on their budding romance—without burning down the house?

User reviews about this book

  • Love! Love! Love!

    By Doingthisforcoinsssssdzzzzz
Rian runs into Pierce in the local grocery store. Or rather, he stalks her there as she innocently shops until her twin sister, Marley, tries to hustle her out. A shopping cart to his groin, her sister’s confession to having hit Pierce’s car and then leaving all combine into one of the most interesting meet-cutes ever. This was a wonderfully hot and funny romance with two terrific lead characters, set in the Shacking Up universe.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I laughed so often at one point I thought they were going to ask me to leave the public location I was at while reading. I love the characters of Rian and Pierce. I could relate to Rian in so many ways and yet others just blew my mind. Trust is very hard for Rian given her family history and previous experiences. Pierce is the exception to the rule and he does everything to earn her trust. Their interactions were classic and hilarious. This is a definite must read. I foresee many re-reads in my future.

Rian and Marley Sutter are fraternal twins, but look almost identical. So it's not surprising that they often get mistaken for each other. While in the grocery store, Rian notices a handsome man following her around. She doesn't know if she's being stalked or if he's possibly flirting, until he confronts her with accusations of a hit and run. Rian has no idea what he's talking about, but knows Marley must be behind this. When Marley accosts Pierce with the grocery cart, grabs her sister's hand, and drags her out the store her suspicions are confirmed. Pierce catches up with them and lets Rian know Marley has cost them $2500 in repairs, that they don't have to spend. In order to keep Pierce from calling the police and putting it in through insurance, Rian agrees to pay Pierce and go on a "date" with him. Pierce Whitfield has never wanted for anything, except his father's approval. He became a patent attorney as that is what his father wanted. When he makes a costly mistake, he steps away to take a break until everything is settled. He joins his brother in flipping houses in the Hamptons. Neither wants to work for their father forever. While being a patent attorney affords him a life of luxury, it doesn't make him happy. Working with his hands, does. When he meets Rian, his curiosity is peaked. He's never met anyone like her. She's a hard worker, doesn't have a lot, but is proud. He also knows she's keeping secrets... I have to say this is my first Helena Hunting novel. I LOVED it!!! Two thumbs up! I loved the creepy dolls, the gnomes, Tripod. I loved how Rian and Marley were able to make something out of nothing. Having been abandoned by the people who are supposed to love and care for you, only to leave you with a mountain of their debt, and deceit. It's amazing how well adjusted they were. I loved how protective they are of each other and their dreams. I enjoyed the neon green speedo and cookie baking schemes to gain listings. Most of all, I loved who Pierce became with Rian. I read a gifted copy of this novel and all opinions stated are my own.
  • Enjoyable but definitely not an all nighter

This was a cute/hot light read. I have always enjoyed Ms. Hunting's books...esp the Pucked series. This book does not come close to those Pucked books. Nevertheless, the main characters do have good chemistry and there were moments I had a smile on my face from their back and forth quips. I loved that Pierce is Amalie's brother and we got to see a little peek with Amalie and Lex. Pierce is definitely a good guy....and throughout the book was always steadfast in his interest of Rian. In fact without Rian's paranoid mistrust of Pierce, there really would have been no story. Spunky heroines are so hard to write.....because a lot of times they end up being depicted as spoiled abd self-centered. And there were definitely times that Rian was annoying.....esp when she ran because she worked herself into a frenzy. Although i lost interest at the 30% mark......in the end, I would recommend this book as a fun, light summer read.

Helena Hunting is a wonderful writer and I enjoy reading everything she writes. Her newest story, I FLIPPING LOVE YOU, is engaging and filled with banter, sarcastic remarks and sexy scenes. The story begins when Rian and Pierce meet in a grocery store. As soon as they meet, they can’t ignore the sexual tension sparking between them. They immediately start trading quips while Pierce tries to talk Rian into going out with him. While Rian is attracted to Pierce, she has learned to stay away from rich, good looking guys with big egos. Pierce is intrigued by Rian and chases after her but she keeps refusing to go out with him. The more she pulls away, the more he chases. Rian pretends to be annoyed with Pierce but secretly she is thrilled. Pierce is a wonderful mix of arrogant, vulnerable and sensitive. He is a dirty talking sexy guy. He is confident and goes after what he wants. Even though it takes him a while to convince Rian to go out with him, he never gives up. Rian is intelligent, beautiful and covers her insecurities with a sassy attitude. She is outspoken and isn’t afraid to let Pierce know what she thinks. She has always been afraid of relationships because she has some family baggage she is embarrassed to share with anyone. I found myself immediately transported into this entertaining story. Pierce and Rian are realistic characters and it is easy to connect with them. I also enjoyed all the interesting secondary characters. This is a perfect mix of funny and sexy. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
  • Perfect Summer Read

    By Palma Chris
I Flipping Love you is my first book by Helena Hunting and I’ll be reading more. This was the perfect pre-summer read. A hit-and-run (both from a car and then a cart) brings our two main characters together. From the beginning, their banter hooked me and enjoyed them together. I love when the characters have some spunk. Rian came from a wealthy family and after circumstances not of her own making, she and her sister have to start from the bottom and claw their way back up. Pierce’s family was a middle class family that became extremely wealthy after a successful product created a small empire. I found it interesting how their backgrounds played into their growth. Both had a past they need to personally overcome. That being said, this isn’t a brooding novel, so their growth was done with a dose of humor and of course lots of sexy bed time (or dryer, counter, couch, beach......). Can’t wait to go back and read Amelie’s book! Thank you to NetGalley and Saint Matin’s Paperback’s for the opportunity to read this ARC. It doesn’t affect my review in any way.
  • A hilarious Rom-Com

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This was so darn funny. I laughed so hard at times especially the interaction between the siblings!!!! It was just hilarious. I really enjoyed this book. I really felt for Rian and Marley. They had to overcome so much. I felt there were times when I felt she should have revealed her background BUT I completely understood her hesitancy when the full revelation of her family history was revealed. This was a wonderful feel good romantic comedy. With all the flipping shows on television, this was a story that was long time coming to readers. A MUST story to read.
  • A must read

I flipping love this book. All the stars! You won’t regret reading this book. I was expecting to be reading a made up story based upon one of the TV shows. I wasn’t excited with this idea. Turns out it was not like that at all. So much better.. loved the build up in the plot, loved the way the characters backgrounds were portrayed, loved how it all came together for a fantastic story. I was always excited to get back to reading this book. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. It is worth every bit of the five stars!
  • Funny, sexy and charming, 'I Flipping Love You' stole my heart!

4.5 Stars! Funny, sexy and charming, 'I Flipping Love You' stole my heart! ❝Do you have any idea how sexy that is?❞ ❝You think it's sexy that I can do math in my head?❞ ❝Yes. You're gorgeous, outspoken, and intelligent. It's a heard-on-inducing trifecta.❞ Rian Sutter and her twin sister, Marley, went from spending weekends on yachts and summers in the Hamptons, to a small, dingy two bedroom duplex thanks to their parent's shady dealings. Determined to take control of their lives, the two take on the renovation world and get into flipping houses. It's Ryan's dream that buying and selling houses will give them enough money to one day, purchase the Hampton's home she spent so many summers in with her grandmother. It is the fear that people will relate the two with her parents that keeps Rian guarded and single. Pierce Whitfield and his family knew what it was to struggle. They came from having very little to living in multi-million dollar penthouses and beachfront homes. His father worked hard building a business that would not only sustain his family but one that his children could take part in when they were old enough. Unfortunately, Pierce doesn't want to be the patent lawyer his dad wants him to be. He'd rather be wearing a tool belt than sitting in a boardroom wearing an Armani suit. Renovating homes is his true passion. When Pierce sees Rian in a grocery store, he mistakes her for the person who hit his Tesla and left without so much as a note. What he finds is a smart, feisty woman who intrigues him. The chemistry between the two is undeniable, at least to him. She's going to take some convincing but Pierce is up to that challenge! 'I Flipping Love You' was filled with witty banter, hilarious moments and deliciously sexy scenes. Make sure to add this one to your summer vacation book list! I was provided a review copy by the publisher. This did not influence my opinion of the book nor my review.
