Beauty and the Mustache Penny Reid Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

There are three things you need to know about Ashley Winston: 1) She has six brothers and they all have beards, 2) She is a reader, and 3) She knows how to knit.

Former beauty queen, Ashley Winston’s preferred coping strategy is escapism. She escaped her Tennessee small town, loathsome father, and six brothers eight years ago. Now she escapes life daily via her Amazon kindle one-click addiction. However, when a family tragedy forces her to return home, Ashley can’t escape the notice of Drew Runous— local Game Warden, bear wrestler, philosopher, and everyone’s favorite guy. Drew’s irksome philosophizing in particular makes Ashley want to run for the skyscrapers, especially since he can’t seem to keep his exasperating opinions— or his soulful poetry, steadfast support, and delightful hands— to himself. Pretty soon the girl who wanted nothing more than the escape of the big city finds she’s lost her heart in small town Tennessee.

This is a full-length novel, can be read as a standalone.

  • Another wonderful read

I love Penny Reid’s books: knitting in the city and Winston brothers. Characters are smart, humorous, and relatable. Great dialogue, easy read, and fun.

Beginning to find a way home is easy, living it... work of art!
  • God, I love Penny Reid

When I downloaded this book, I was dubious at best. I had fallen in love with Janie and Quinn's story and I just didn't think my heart could bear a Reid book *not* about them. But the book was free so I downloaded. A couple days later, out of sheer desperation, I started reading. And immediately, I was reminded of just how much I love Penny Reid's writing. Her books are just so...SMART, and swoon worthy, and full of heart, and interesting and GAHHHH just amazing. I highly, highly recommend you download this book and all Penny Reid books right now (just tell your loved ones you'll be MIA for the next several days).

New author for me. A far from great read, but I found myself enjoying it none the less. A little too much silliness that was unnecessary to the story. I liked all the characters, the big family, the group of friends, and the story line. I always enjoy a longer read.

I loved this book so much, I could feel the emotional journey Ash went through and I loved Drew. He was so sweet, the way they first met had me dying with laughter. Definitely an amazing read.

I have been recommended this story so many times. I don’t know why I put off reading it for so long. Ashley is a great original character and Drew won my heart. He is so sweet. I adore him. This story was definitely worth my time.
