Pucked Helena Hunting Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. She isn’t interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. When Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match.

Suffering from a complete lapse in judgment, Violet discovers just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. Violet believes her night of orgasmic magic with Alex is just that: one night. But Alex starts to call. And text. And email and send extravagant―and quirky―gifts. Suddenly, he's too difficult to ignore, and nearly impossible not to like.

The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.

Love this book and the entire series. Ms. Hunting has a wonderful way with words. Her books are funny, witty, charming and full of spice to keep you reading. The characters draw you in and keep you coming back for more.
  • Really slow start

I must confess, I have started this book many times before but it never had engaged me enough to want to continue it. The beginning of the story is extremely slow. One day, while I was at the gym and wanted something to read on the treadmill I decided to restart this book again and after the 7th chapter, I was finally hooked. So, it took many pages, but in the end I really liked the story. I just can't give it more than 3.5 stars because of the first chapters where nothing happens! Seriously, nothing! Wasted pages for a nice story.

    Loved it so much
  • Terribly written & no romance

    By BostonPediDoc
I LOVE chick lit, but this is a truly awful book. Very poorly written and contains little romance. It’s basically a porno, and feels like it’s written by a man, for guys to read. Boring and painful to get through. I finally gave up with 30 pages to go.
  • Raunchy, irreverent and great fun

Since I love hockey, as a player and an of the Bruins growing up and the Red Wings through their recent glory years, I thought what the heck, I’ll see what this is like. Not disappointed at all. The language is not for the prudish or squeamish. But the dialogs...they’re most entertaining. I found myself chuckling out loud on numerous occasions. The hockey situations are relatable, the sex descriptions are easy to make one jealous and the read is fast paced. All in all, expect to move on to more HH.

I absolutely loved this book. It had me laughing so hard. I loved how Violet was so quirky and the stuff that came out of her mouth was jaw dropping. I loved her and Alex together. Their realationship is amazing. I couldn’t get enough of this book. I can’t wait to read the next book.

  • Beavers...boobs...super MC

In Pucked, there were some good one liners. Violet’s saucy witty mouth created some laugh out loud moments. With all that said, Violet’s character, at twenty-two, led by her beavers urges. The story was missing angst build-up due to the fact that Violet’s beaver couldn’t reject Alex’s meat-pole. The plot was generic and basic. The story was an insta-love romance with a sports theme and some comedic dialogue. The main characters started as a one-night fling, but quickly escalated to more. Pucked was a character driven story about hockey players and the stereotypes associated with NHL players and their sexual exploits. Many characters were introduced to set up multiple stories for more standalone related stories in the Pucked series. I’m not connecting with Helena’s writing style. I like to laugh but when it’s overdone with repetitive scenes about beavers and monster cocks the laughter starts to fade into boredom. This type of dialogue just made the characters sound immature. I had too many issues with these characters that I rather not list them. Unfortunately, this book became a chore to read with very developmental growth. Violet’s boobs became a secondary theme to the story. As well as talk about Violet’s beaver and their mouth pucking.
