Consequences Aleatha Romig Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

Book #1 of the bestselling Consequences series
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aleatha Romig comes a suspenseful thriller about secrets and deception, passion and love, choices and consequences.

Every action has consequences.

Waking in an unfamiliar bedroom in a luxurious mansion, Claire Nichols is terrified to discover that a chance encounter led her into the cruel hands of her abductor, Anthony Rawlings. Claire has no understanding of why she’s there, but it’s been made abundantly clear—she is now his acquisition and every action has consequences.

Learn the rules to survive.

Facing incomprehensible circumstances, Claire must learn to survive her new reality—every aspect of her livelihood depends upon the tall, dark-eyed tycoon who is a true master of deception. Driven by unknown demons, he has no tolerance for imperfection, in any aspect of his life, including his recent acquisition. Anthony may appear to the world as a handsome, benevolent businessman, but in reality Claire knows firsthand that he’s a menacing, controlling captor with very strict rules: do as you’re told, public failure is not an option, and appearances are of the utmost importance.

Captivate the captor.

To fit together the pieces of the puzzle, Claire must follow his rules. Will her plan work, or will Anthony become enthralled by Claire’s beauty, resilience, and determination, changing the game forever? If that happens, will either of them survive the consequences?

Nobody ever did or ever will escape the consequences of his choices.—Alfred A. Montapert

User reviews about this book

  • Good but slow to start

    By Jamiebitch
The whole series is a good read. The story starts of agonizingly slow but if you can get past it the story is very good and I enjoyed reading it. The first two books felt like they took me forever to read. After that it was fine.
  • Horrible book.

    By Paiges2turn
Kidnapping, rape, stalking, physical and emotional abuse...and completely boring characters. I hated him, and detested her. Pathetic. And there's nothing sexy about any of the above.
  • I hated this book

    By Dezona
It's appalling to imagine someone falling in love for their captor and abuser. The leading man rapes her, beats her to pieces and she falls in love for him?? Are you kidding me?? This author needs to have her head examined. I was hoping she would be able to scape and put him in prison, but no... this is horrible. Don't waste your money like I did.
  • Addicting!

    By Aybentzz
Please, please read this book. You will NOT regret it. It was so addicting that my boyfriend had to actually take my phone away from me because I couldn't stop reading! The twists and turns the author added to keep you intrigued worked very, very well. The ONLY part that I "skimmed" through was one of the vacations that was described. I was more so excited for Claire & Tony to get home and back to their dramatic lives. Long story short, this was a fantastic read. As soon as I finished, I purchased book #2. Beginning as soon as I finish this review!!! Job well done, Ms. Romig!!!

One of the best books I've read in a log time. Can't wait to finish them all.
  • Great book

This book invoked so many different emotions. Very well written and interesting plot.
  • Trigger warning!

    By Fergusowl
I just finished the first book in the series. The whole time I was reading it... And I do mean the whole time... I could not figure out what the point of the book was. The lead character is a nut job... The heroine is weak and only good at apologizing for things that she should have never apologized for. The story line was pretty typical. Mostly I spent the whole book thinking I hope that guy gets his throat cut at some point in this book. I wish I could rate it 0 stars... But that's not an option. Good start... Meh middle... And the ending... What??? Don't waste your time.
  • Deleted from my " to read" list!

    By TheFras
This writer nearly has a storyline...that becomes ridiculous for the time period. She nearly writes sex scenes...that end abruptly and begin a new chapter. She nearly has a romantic, emotionally charged moment...that evolves in to nothing. No matter how you try to understand her cant...they are extreme yet she shoves them back in line after a paragraph in order to make the reader believe in them (??) eg he beat her to unconsciousness after which he stated his undying love, proposed and she accepted. She by the way is supposedly an independent , smart career women who rightfully hates the male character in the story, right up to the time he proposes! Pick a story, place the content in the right century and evolve the characters so we recognize/ associate with them, then decide who is bad/good and write so I will believe what I am reading. Until then, this author is off my "to read" list!
  • Loved the series!

At first I wasn't sure about this first book. But the end had a good twist. So I bought the 2nd book. Totally loved the series! Couldn't put it down.
