Something Great (Book 1) M. Clarke Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

She didn’t know what she was missing…until he found her. Maxwell Knight was positively trouble, dangerously good-looking, and seductively charming. He was everything Jenna didn’t need in her life. Only Max didn’t see it that way. His pursuit was relentless, making Jenna even more determined to push him away.

The end was missing more, did not like that it was left to my imagination what would come after.......

Both the characters and dialogue fell flat in this badly salvaged 50 Shades storyline (that made 50 Shades seem better than it actually is). The dialogue between the leads was boring if not eye-rolling. There was little chemistry in their words although their physical chemistry begged to differ. The supporting characters also fell flat, as I found my self skipping over their parts. There were also crucial typos that made it even more difficult to read. Overall, there wasn't much promise in this book and the existence of sequels is baffling.

When I first noticed this book I thought it sounded like a good story and I would be happy with it. Well, I was wrong. It was an amazingly awesome story and I am in love with it. Fresh out of college, Jeanella is secure in her world with good friends, a good job and a good man and doesn’t see any reason to change one thing. That is until one day when she meets Maxwell and her safe, secure world will never be the same. Maxwell is her boss’ son and technically her boss also so Jeanella knows that he’s off limits but her heart is not listening. Maxwell is instantly attracted to Jeanella and determined to make her his own. He begins to woo her with lunch dates and heart shaped rice krispy treats. Slowly he works his way into her heart and she wonders if the life she is leading is enough. Maxwell is the man every woman dreams about and I don’t understand why it took her so long to realize how incredible he was. This book was more than I expected and I couldn’t put it down once I started reading.

I read this whole book... I'm not sure why though. The plot line was ridiculously predictable, Jenna was obnoxious and no one acts like Max. It just was unbelievable, no heat and irritating to read. As much as I wanted to like I just really couldn't. I would rather have my 3 hours back I think.

The idea of the story is good, but that's it. The writing is decent but the dialogue is so unbelievable that I often found myself thinking that I was reading a translated story. People don't talk in real life the way they did in this story. If it was one person I could call it a character trait, but it's all of them so therefore-no good.
