The Hot Zone Richard Preston Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

The bestselling landmark account of the first emergence of the Ebola virus. A highly infectious, deadly virus from the central African rain forest suddenly appears in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. There is no cure. In a few days 90 percent of its victims are dead. A secret military SWAT team of soldiers and scientists is mobilized to stop the outbreak of this exotic "hot" virus. The Hot Zone tells this dramatic story, giving a hair-raising account of the appearance of rare and lethal viruses and their "crashes" into the human race. Shocking, frightening, and impossible to ignore, The Hot Zone proves that truth really is scarier than fiction.

Read this book as I wanted to read more on the concept of ebola as it spreads across Liberia as of now. This really opens my eyes to a lot and was really well written. The author puts you in the narratives mind as you watch over the events that happen. Will read more by Preston!

This is non-fiction, but it is written like a novel. And it is well-written at that. If you want to know about ebola, this is the book.

I read this book back in high school, and it was one the best books I've ever read. Now I'll be able to read it on my iPod Touch! I have it now since I've been hearing a lot about the outbreak in Africa...

This book was both terrifying and extremely gripping. Sometimes it was so gross I thought I would throw up, but I couldn't put it down. The lurid details are absolutely fascinating. It's very informative, but definitely not for the faint-hearted. Essentially, a great book.
