User reviews about this book
Stilled, shining through... engulf highly.
Stick with it!
The first in this series is set with a brilliant idea and base, but it is not flawlessly executed - it can be a little lacking depth at times and it’s got some minor continuity problems. But! Stick with the series! #2 is better than #1, and #3 is better than #2, etc. Each book adds layer upon layer to the story, until there’s so much going on that getting to the ending is an emotional thrill ride.
In a lot of ways, the complication and depth of the story increases as Mina matures, kind of like Jane Austen’s Emma - which is its own type of beauty. By the end of the series, you feel like you’ve grown with Mina, which is cool.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series, and I hope you will too :)
This was a fabulous connection to a series I had just finished on Amazon Prime. Love when things connect like that. Fairy tales aren't always easy and happy.....

By AWESOME FONTS!!!
I’ve read this book like 7 times, and it never gets old! It’s a great read, and the whole series is amazing!
I have a few issues with this. The one I’m going to mention is that Mina, after being a hero for all of 2 hours, suddenly becomes a “Grimy gold digger”. Unrealistic.
