The Sign of the Beaver Elizabeth George Speare Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars
Although he faces responsibility bravely, thirteen-year-old Matt is more than a little apprehensive when his father leaves him alone to guard their new cabin in the wilderness. When a renegade white stranger steals his gun, Matt realizes he has no way to shoot game or to protect himself. When Matt meets Attean, a boy in the Beaver clan, he begins to better understand their way of life and their growing problem in adapting to the white man and the changing frontier.
Elizabeth George Speare’s Newbery Honor-winning survival story is filled with wonderful detail about living in the wilderness and the relationships that formed between settlers and natives in the 1700s. Now with an introduction by Joseph Bruchac.

User reviews about this book
Such a good book
By t.t. McKenna
School starts tomorrow and we were assigned with this book for summer reading and as usual I thought I would feel ok about the book and not talk about it much... but this book is the best assignment I have had this summer.
Elizabeth George Spear is an amazing author!!!!!
This book was amaze. All should read it. Also these reviews seem to give away the book and what is has to say. But either way it was a great book
Best book ever
My teacher made me read this book, and I didn't want to read it but I am glad I did. It is overall a great book
Just too amazing to be put into words, except for some issues with knowing what time the story is in at certain parts

Great, but gets better!!! Yayayayayyayayayay!
Love this book, one thing, i don't even have the book, didn't purchase it, didn't sample it
For a easier way to read it, without spending money (maybe some...) get the kindle app, it uses amazon, so you can use your library, request it and the if you have a amazon account, than you borrow it, another app is the overdrive app, though this one might not be on overdrive (all of my libraries don't have the ebook form,) its a great app, and you don't spend any money, (except getting a library card) and if your library has the book you want on ebook, you just search, and request, you get it for like 16-20 days and you can renew it anytime you want
But if you want to buy it, its a Great book, (my opinion you might hate it, i donno)
Wonderful adventure book for older kids with life lessons included.
