Moon Called Patricia Briggs Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

Moon Called is the novel that introduced Patricia Briggs’s Mercy Thompson to the world and launched a #1 bestselling phenomenon...

Mercy Thompson is a shapeshifter, and while she was raised by werewolves, she can never be one of them, especially after the pack ran her off for having a forbidden love affair. So she’s turned her talent for fixing cars into a business and now runs a one-woman mechanic shop in the Tri-Cities area of Washington State.

But Mercy’s two worlds are colliding. A half-starved teenage boy arrives at her shop looking for work, only to reveal that he’s a newly changed werewolf—on the run and desperately trying to control his animal instincts. Mercy asks her neighbor Adam Hauptman, the Alpha of the local werewolf pack, for assistance.

But Mercy’s act of kindness has unexpected consequences that leave her no choice but to seek help from those she once considered family—the werewolves who abandoned her...

“In the increasingly crowded field of kick-ass supernatural heroines, Mercy stands out as one of the best.”—Locus

  • The best of Urban Fantasy

Love, love, LOVE this series!!!! Patricia Briggs is absolutely brilliant! I love her style of writing because she seriously has the talent to balance the right amount of emotion in everything from serious, to funny, sassy, sweet, intense, etc. And she makes her characters come alive, and feel so real, I just can’t get enough of Mercy and the gang.

An excellent well written story. Mercy and friends have a mystery to solve. Yes, there is action, magic, mystery and romance. Some humor but I really enjoyed the interaction between Mercy, Adam, and Samuel. Let's not forget that there even vampires involved and one with a Scooby Doo sense of humor. I really enjoyed the book and plan on reading the next I the series. I would tell more but I really hate to spoil a good book for the reader!
  • Grammar errors and tense mix ups.

    By JuniAvera
The writer stumbles over stiff prose and tense inaccuracies, making the excitement of the story fall flat. Character development is low, which creates confusion whenever she adds a new character. But the story is decent, and it's a fun read for what it is.
  • Standard Urban Fantasy with Female Lead

    By Froody 2
This is another crockpot urban fantasy with a female lead. The main difference here is decent writing and the fact that main character is a skin walker. Unfortunately, there isn't much to distinguish this from other similar series yet.

    Great series.
  • can't put it down

Mercy is such an amazing character, strong, caring, intelligent. She doesn't play the typical damsel in distress role. This is a woman who takes care of business! Above and beyond my favorite series.
  • Love it,,

I love this book and the whole series! I hope these continue on for a long time!
  • Awful dialogue

    By gato verde
This book reads like a sexy after school special. The dialogue is horrible. There are 50 cent words just scattered about as if to add sophistication, but they just make the prose awkward. I was looking for something light to read, but this is actually painful.
