Blood Type K.A. Linde Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems.

For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.

In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.

Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.

For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.

Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match.

  • Annoying heroine....almost did not finish!

I borrowed this book from the library.....glad I didn't pay for it! The concept was interesting but the characters were really lacking. Beckham was definitely the strong and silent type but he took it to another level. It was hard to connect with him because he was just "there". And the heroine, Reyna was just annoying and very immature. Her character was so whiny and indecisive that I stopped reading in the middle for 2 weeks. Due to financial circumstances, she becomes a permanent "blood donor/slave" to a mysterious and powerful vampire. But for someone who needs the job, she constantly acts out and back talks her employer......which is odd and annoying! Then she goes back and forth in her feeelings for Beckham......side note: I did not like her nickname "Becks" for him...it did not fit his character or their relationship. But the most annoying part was when she kept putting herself in dangerous situations, even when she was warned. Why would she go off on her own to have a cry when she is in the most dangerous place of all (Vault). The injury that happens at the end is her fault because Beckham's focus was split. I really did not like her at all. Unfortunately because of this, I will not be continuing this series.

This book is like no other vampire book you’ve read. You may think, Oh how different can it be? Well read it because it’s simply amazing. It gets to a point that it’s predictable, and i figured out the twist a little more than halfway, but not the usual vamp falls for human mate. No. Not at all. It’s so completely different and a refreshing take on the vampire genre. I cannot wait to read the next book!

I’m honestly not sure how I feel about this book. It drew me in from the start and kept me there, but I honestly almost put it down quite a few times, because Beckham drove me a bit insane. He was sexy and alpha, but he was a very indecisive hero. While by the end of the story I understood why, I had already made my mind up. I ADORED Reyna. While she’s sweet, she’s feisty and stands up for what she believes in. Even if it made waves, she wasn’t going to bite her tongue. The story itself was great. Like I said, it drew me in from the beginning and had me wondering what would happen next. This is definitely a good read, and I would recommend it. Just be prepared for wanting to throat punch the hero a bit.... (but keep in mind, he does redeem himself)

Oh my...This is a MUST read! Even if you normally don’t read the genre, give this book a try! This book was the best of three different series mixed in one. Such a great story and Becks, oh my Becks, enough time said. I am excited to read the next two books in the series when they come out. It does end a cliffhanger BUT again you MUST read it!
  • Loved it!!!!

Ok so let’s start by saying I normally don’t read paranormal. I just thought that in my mind I wouldn’t be able to imagine what was going on in the storyline but I was soooooo wrong. This book just got me from the start. I could not put it down once I started. Reyna is simply trying to survive. Her brothers are doing everything they can but with the economy on a downfall, they can barely make ends meet. So Reyna turns to her only option, Visage. She would be working for vampires as a blood donor. The only problem is she gets matched to a super gorgeous vampire named Beckham Anderson. The storyline is strong, the characters well written, and the emotions are all there. In true K.A. Linde fashion this book broke my heart and left me wanting more. If paranormal isn’t your thing, don’t worry. This story itself is so gripping that the vampire stuff just becomes seamlessly part of the book. Loved it!!!! Can’t wait for the next one!!!!
  • Spicy, intense start to a series I can’t wait to read more of

If you're like me (and God bless you if you are because you need all the blessings you can get), you swore off vampire paranormal romances a while ago. Well, it's time to jump back on that train, dear readers, because KA Linde has a fantastic series brewing featuring vampires. There is a new world out there, and it is ruled by the vamps. Not Edward-esque vampires, either. Beckham and his ilk may be gorgeous and perfect looking, but this brood is far more interesting and complex. Only the wealthy vampires are thriving because they can afford to hire people to be their "blood escorts," which means a class battle of sorts is brewing. I liked how KA Linde uses that plot thread to make you connect even deeper to this story. It isn't just vampires and humans, it's haves, have-nots, privileged and poor. Of course there is a romance, and since this is the first book of a series, you can be sure that the romance builds slowly. KA Linde makes you question whether Reyna and Becks will wind up together, whether they have enough in common to be a couple. There are a couple of scenes that broke my heart for Reyna, and there was one scene that left me weeping for Becks. This is a spicy, intense start to what no doubt will prove to be a spicy, intense series. I can't wait for the next book!
