The Girl in Between Laekan Zea Kemp Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

Bryn Reyes is a real life sleeping beauty. Afflicted with Klein-Levin Syndrome, she suffers episodes of prolonged sleep that steal weeks, and sometimes even months, from her life. But unlike most KLS patients, she doesn’t spend each episode in a catatonic state or wake up with no recollection of the time she’s missed. Instead, Bryn spends half her life in an alternate reality made up of her memories. For Bryn, the past is a place, until one day a boy she’s never met before washes up on the illusory beach of her dreams with no memory of who he is.

But the appearance of this strange boy isn’t the only thing that’s changed. Bryn’s symptoms are worsening, her body weakening as she’s plagued by hallucinations even while awake. Her only hope of finding a cure is to undergo experimental treatment created by a German specialist. But when Dr. Banz reveals that he knows more about her strange symptoms than he originally let on, Bryn learns that the boy in her head might actually be the key to understanding what’s happening to her, and worse, that if she doesn’t find out his identity before it’s too late, they both may not survive.

Intense, interesting, and unique read that begs e reader to follow into the second book. Very f bomb heavy, but aside from that a hard to put down book. Believable characters

While this story is good, I most likely will not read the rest of the books because I don’t appreciate the use of the f word. There are so many other words to use of simple don’t use that kind of language. You can get the point across other ways. I wish authors could understand that books well written are an escape and I don’t want to feel like I’m having to skip and scan ahead to avoid the unacceptable language. One star simply for the annoyance of language.

A highly imaginative story. Not usually the kind of book I read, but the reviews were all favorable, so I took a chance. I became hooked after a few chapters and read it in one sitting. The ending stunned me, and I thought that can’t be all ! Well, it wasn’t, thank goodness. I found a second book, and it better end the way I want it to.

Absolutely loved this book. It was the perfect blend of mystery and romance and craziness. Will have to get the second and third and fourth. Although it felt like the author suddenly got tired of writing and abruptly ended the first book.

I loved this book. I was drawn in by the characters, the situations, the story. I was so caught up in their lives that I didn't want it to end and when it did; I was like "WHAT?" Needless to say I can't wait to begin the second book in this series. Read this book, you won't be disappointed.
