His Brenda Rothert Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

I’d say I’m down on my luck, but that’s an understatement. I’m flat on my ass. Homeless, hungry and in hiding with my little sister at the age of twenty-one, I’ve never been so desperate. I’ve hit rock bottom when I get an offer I can’t refuse. Sell my body to save my sister? There’s nothing I won’t do to keep her safe. I make the rules and I’m not afraid to defend myself if this rich guy crosses the line. But once I see beneath his cold, calculating façade, the lines aren’t so clear anymore.

She’s an intoxicating mix of tough and vulnerable I’ve never known before. This homeless woman who fits right into my upper-class world is running from someone powerful, and I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her. But Quinn isn’t meant to be controlled, so I’m forced to choose between owning her and loving her. I’ve finally met my match, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make her truly mine.

  • One protective man, one fierce woman, one heartfelt story

This has to be one of my favorite books by Brenda Rothert. This story captures the reader's attention and won't let go until the final word has been read. Not only is the storyline superb, but the two very strong, compelling characters and the journey that unites their lives pull at your heartstrings and won't let go. Andrew is a self made millionaire who doesn't have time for relationships and who appears to not even want them. Even though he appears strong he's still keeps the death of his father and the pain that loss left behind close to his heart. The moment he meets Quinn he knows he met his match, she won't obey his rules like all the other women he's been with, she's fierce, something that attracts him about her immediately. Quinn has to be one of my favorite female characters ever. Her strength, her devotion to her little sister, her selflessness, and her take no prisoners attitude, make her a force to be reckoned with. She has big secrets that she must protect in order to save her sister, in order to save herself, and she's willing to do whatever it takes to keep them buried. Andrew and Quinn's relationship is a slow, sensual dance, the author gives us a chance to get to know these characters as individuals before they become a couple. Little by little her story starts to reveal itself and I love Andrew's protectiveness, his compassion, and the fact that even when he doesn't know the whole story behind Quinn he doesn't judge her for the decisions she made, on the contrary, it causes great admiration towards her. Quinn's bravery opened my eyes to some things that us as humans tend to see every day and sometimes ignore. Sometimes we forget that every person out there has a story we know anything about, that we all have a hunger inside of us that keep us fighting for what we think is fair, that the clothes we wear do not represent the type of person we are, that the sacrifices we often make are not always a waste of our lives. This was simply a heartfelt story, told beautifully through the eyes of two imperfectly, but perfect for each other, characters that would leave you wanting more.

just finished the book. I thought the romance development was great, since the author took her time to allow the characters to fall in love that seems naturally and real. However, what I dislike is the fact that it would be nice for Rothert to develop some characters better. It felt that she focuses a lot on the romantic relationship between Andrew and Quinn yet she fails to give enough attention to supporting characters. For example, it just seems unbelievable to me that Bean who started as a goodhearted ally to the girls somehow has a change of heart in Mexico for no reason at all. (The author said something about Bean using them as his meal tickets but that doesn’t explain the fact that he was with them when they had nothing, so his sudden affiliation to the cartels in Mexico seems to me like the author’s attempt to speed up the plot to deal with more important matter. But a good story wouldn’t just overlook the major flaw in the story.) I also dislike how Rothert characterizes the Senator stepdad and felt that the confrontation between Quinn and him was super anticlimatic. Also, the first time that Quinn met Andrew’s gay private assistance (i forgot his name), That guy seems to be decent guy and left a pretty good first impression on me but somehow he turns into a bad guy and i just don’t buy it. Moreover, the whole point of the story was that Quinn runs away to protect her sister, Betsy; however, we don’t really know alot about Betsy and the infomation that we do get about Betsy is only to heighten Quinn majestic and kindhearted personality. I just think that while this book is pretty good because I do like my protagonist kind, smart, and beautiful just like how the author described Quinn; However, I feel that there are more than enough material to expand on to create a sequel. Maybe call it HERS, and third book: US.

Just when I think Brenda Rothert can’t amaze me any more than she already has, she goes and writes His. This is a romantic suspense that brings us two characters who operate on the same emotional plane – fortressed, devastated by loss and never knowing who they can really trust. Brenda takes us inside the heads of Quinn and Andrew and lets us feel the full weight of their burdens, making this story that much more powerful. From the very first pages, I was all in. And by “all in”, I mean I did not put this book down for anything. His is so well told and moves at a fast pace, but still allows us to understand exactly what makes these characters really tick. Quinn is Ferocious. She is where is she for all the right reasons. To not only survive, but to protect what’s hers, she has to make very difficult choices and the sheer guts required to make them is breath-taking. Brenda does not sugar-coat Quinn’s life in the least. So many heart-wrenching moments and it is impossible to suspend your disbelief – for too many people, that is their reality and we get an unflinching view of what that feels like. *Takes a deep breath* As much as I loved the other elements of this book, every scene of Quinn’s that took place on the street that were among my favorites. Because Brenda’s words put me there and let me feel everything that Quinn experienced. It really was just so incredibly well done. Andrew is every bit of an enigma. He is born protector, but so hunkered down in his world, that he has all but lost the piece of his humanity that allows him to truly connect with another person. It made my heart just ache for him. His soul needed a balm and it was delivered in the form of Quinn, who needed someone herself. I loved Andrew and Quinn’s connection, it was combative and (very) combustible but mostly it was the perfect mending of two very fractured hearts. At this point every book is a beach read, but His is a perfect book to get lost in over an afternoon while you are enjoying the sun and sand. Just make sure that you have plenty of sunscreen or a really big umbrella, because you don’t want to burn. Happy reading!!!

His by Brenda Rothert is a stand-alone story about Quinn, a young homeless woman, and Andrew, the closed-off rich man who rescues her from the streets and from her past. Quinn has been homeless by choice for almost four years. In an effort to save her younger sister and herself from a terrible fate, they ran away. They have been surviving any way they can in New York City and when her sister, Bethy, starts to get sick, Quinn starts to get desperate. When offered a chance at earning some money she can't refuse, she takes the offer and it turns out to be the best decision she could have made for herself and her sister's safety. Andrew has some secrets of his own... When he has his assistant proposition Quinn for a night with him it isn't something he is proud of but after a pregnancy scare/scam a few months ago it is the only way he will handle the intimacy of sex anymore. He has to be in full control. When Quinn shows up she is so much more than he ever would have expected he puts a different offer on the table and change BOTH their lives, irrevocably. It is well-paced and unpredictable with well-developed characters and a heartwarming happy ending. Just everything about this story worked for me. I definitely will be reading more from this author in the future.

Wow!! His was so different from the other books written by Brenda Rothert. I usually enjoy her writing, but I loved this story! It's romantic suspense, which happens to be my favorite genre. The story begins with Quinn and her little sister living on the streets of NY. Andrew's assistant sees Quinn and offers her money in exchange for sex with his boss. She's desperate, so she takes him up on his offer. When Andrew meets Quinn he decides he is interested in her and wants her for more than one night. There are lots of twists and turns in this book and by the time you get to the end you have all of your answers. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it to everyone. Quinn is a survivor. Since escaping from a horrific home life, she's had to learn to take care of herself and her younger sister on the streets of New York City. Andrew Wentworth knows all too well what fear and loss feel like, and has worked hard to create a life where he is completely in control. When Quinn's and Andrew's worlds intersect, the balance and boundaries that each has created will be tested. Any book by Brenda Rothert is going to be on my TBR. As a longtime fan, I know that Brenda's books will not disappoint, and, oh, my goodness, did she ever knock it out of the park with HIS. I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite of Brenda's books to date, and one of her most engaging stories ever. I was fully invested in Quinn's and Andrew's story from the first page, and absolutely could not put this book down. There are many secrets within the story, ones that each reader should uncover on their own, so I don't want to say too much for fear of giving anything away. Suffice to say that HIS is a must-read, one that I would recommend without hesitation. HIS is an engaging, action-packed, sexy 5-star read, and I hope to see more of these characters in the future.
  • Amazing Characters- LOVE this story!

I'm at a loss for words to explain why without giving away the story. Except - Read this book. Quinn and Andrew are what I want in characters for a non-stop read. Quinn is strong. She's motivated. She knows what she needs in the relationship with Andrew and stays strong throughout the story without wavering. Andrew's request for the neat and tidy relationship he's had in the past is turned on its head. And it's Andrew's quiet, steady perseverance that the terms of agreement can always be revamped. But there are secrets. I hate secrets. I always want to know. That's why it took me less than 24 hours to read. The first 60% of the story deals with Quinn and Andrew finding their footing. Then all the sudden, the storyline picks up pace where one secret after another is revealed. You are rooting for the HEA that all the characters in the story deserve. This is not my first Brenda Rothert book and won't be my last. However, I will state without a doubt it's my favorite. It's definitely a standalone where you feel completely satisfied at the end. 5 out of 5 stars.
