Hard to Hold Katie Rose Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

“Katie Rose writes sexy, skilled sports heroes who know how to treat a woman right!” raves Wendy S. Marcus. Now the award-winning author of the Bad Boys of Baseball series introduces a team of soccer stars who score on and off the pitch.
New Jersey Hurricanes striker Logan Hart lives for the grind of training, the adrenaline of competition, and all the perks of the road—until his ex hands him a baby and tells Logan to raise her on his own. He’s eager to pass this bundle of joy into more capable hands and get back to his hard-playing, hard-partying ways. But when a beautiful, blond drill sergeant of a nanny turns Logan’s life upside down, he sets a new goal: winning her heart.
Isabella Bennett takes pride in teaching the rich and famous how to become loving families. Her no-nonsense style is just what Logan and his crying, copper-haired cutie need. So why can’t she get the image of Logan’s tanned, muscular body out of her head? Isabella’s here to whip a new father into shape, not fall for a sexy ladies’ man. But their chemistry is too tantalizing to ignore, much like the temptation to trust someone with her deepest secrets—and embrace a loving family all her own.

  • Stay with me

    By 2kasmom
Logan hires Isabella to be his no nonsense nanny. He had an ex drop the baby on him in a bar. He needs someone to help him learn the ropes of temporary fatherhood. Isabella knows that this arrangement will never be temporary. She has seen this too often. She must teach Logan how to care for an infant, so he can enjoy his child. Logan is so grateful to have the amazing Isabella with his child. He must go out of town a lot for work. He honestly knows nothing about how to care for an infant. Now if only he could control the attraction to the nanny. Such a sweet and sexy book. I loved the banter, the heat, and the angst. Truly this story has it all - even a baby! These two are so meant to be together. ***This ARC copy was given by Netgalley and its publishers in exchange for an honest review.
  • Fell a littl flat for me

    By Mom's Cooking The Books
This is the first time I have read anything by this author and I liked her writing style, but for the life of me I can’t put my finger on what I didn’t love about the book. It wasn’t bad and it wasn’t great. It was just meh. There seemed to be a disconnect somewhere. I have been hashing it over in my mind and I can’t tell you what it is. The story has some sweet and touching moments, as well as funny and sexy moments, but at times fell flat. The characters were developed and at times they would frustrate me, but the thing that really distracted me was that the sweet copper haired baby was named Cinnamon. I truly believe that we all read the same book differently and the opinions here are my own. If you like a sports romance with a single dad as the star, then give this book a try.
  • A good start to a new series.

    By ButtonsMom2003
Hard to Hold is the first book in a new series, Hard to Play, by Katie Rose. Characters from books in her previous series (which seems to go by two different names: The Boys of Summer and The Bad Boys of Baseball) make appearances in this story but you do not need to have read any other books to enjoy this one. Logan Hart is enjoying being back in the U.S. after playing professional soccer overseas. He is shocked when a woman from a one-night stand (something he usually didn’t indulge in) drops a baby girl in his lap while he’s out having a beer. There’s no way the baby can be his; he always used a condom. I really enjoyed this story, which for me was a twist on the secret baby romance trope. Instead of the mother and father ending up together something different happens. Logan travels all the time for his job and there is no way that he can care for a baby. He does what any smart, well-off-man would do – he hires a nanny. Isabella Bennett is a professional nanny who loves helping children and their families. She knows that what she does can make a difference in a child’s life and that makes it worth all of the negative things that come with the job. There is a lot of chemistry between Isabella and Logan right from the start but they both know that it’s not appropriate for them to get involved. Even while she is attracted to him, at first Isabella isn’t impressed with Logan’s attitude towards the baby, Cinnamon. It doesn’t take long, however, for her to help Logan to understand how much Cinnamon needs him and for his attitude to make a big adjustment in the right direction and her resolve to resist him slowly crumbles. Unfortunately, Isabella has a secret that she’s reluctant to share with Logan and it threatens to tear them apart. I loved reading this book. The heat between Isabella and Logan is hot but this book doesn’t have an overabundance of explicit sex and the story itself kept me interested enough I didn’t want to put it down. I should note that while the sex is mild (except for one scene) there are a lot of f-bombs. That doesn’t offend me at all but there were times I felt they were a bit over the top. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series. ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my review. ***** Reviewed for Xtreme-Delusions *****
  • Loved it

    By bh313@hotmail
Loved! This! Book! I enjoyed all of Katie Rose's Boys of Summer books and now it looks like she's moved on to soccer and I couldn't be happier! This is a fantastic book to kick (yeah yeah) the series off with. Logan Hart is living the life. Getting paid to play the game he loves and enjoying all the ummm....benefits of constant travel. Then his world is turned upside down when one of those umm...benefits shows up, baby in tow, telling him it's his turn to raise it! Literally stuck holding the baby he has no idea to care for his first call is to his sister with an SOS shout out. His second to a nanny service. Thinking he could just let the nanny handle things while he searches for the mother to get thing cleared up. Sounds like a great plan until Isabella Bennett, nanny and baby whisperer, shows up and lets him know in no uncertain terms she won't raise his child. He needs to be involved!! What the?? You don't want to miss this one. It's filled with humor and wonderful touching moments as Logan not only loses his heart to the cutie called Cinnamon but also to the no nonsense nanny. I highly recommend this one.
  • Sexy soccer player!

    By Lynn B888
A sexy trek into the world of Major League Soccer with Katie Rose! I really enjoyed this story and the characters, but I didn’t quite feel the passion for the game coming through like I have in the past when reading about her baseball heroes. New Jersey Hurricanes soccer player Logan Hart is living the good life. Playing the game he loves, traveling a lot, partying hard and loving lots of women is his standard method of operation. When an ex fling walks up to him at a bar and hands him a baby, he is flabbergasted! He’s not daddy material! Isabella Bennett receives the call from nanny company she works for that her services are needed and sets out to whip this single dad into shape! Her no-nonsense style throws Logan for a loop, but he isn’t willing to rock the boat and have no help, so he agrees to learn. As this adorable baby and her kind-hearted nanny start to wind themselves around his heart, will he be able to resist them and hold onto that studly reputation of his?
  • contemporary sports romance gem

    By Tome Tender
Sexy sports hero in need of rescue gets an unexpected gem from a modern day Mary Poppins (aka. Nanny with attitude) in this delightfully sweet romance. Logan Hart, professional athlete, has life by the horns until an ex-fling drops off a baby at his door step and walks away. Unsure what to do he calls a nanny service to take control of this unexpected addition to his perfect life. Little did he know that this nanny specializing in teaching the rich and famous to become loving parents…even if she has to drag. Isabella knows she’s got her work cut out for he with the Hart family but she sees beyond the shocked father to the man below who will do what is right. She never mixes business with pleasure but the chemistry between her and Logan is sizzling off the charts. This is a heartwarming tale of love, life and the unexpected treasures that you might find when you least expect it, a contemporary sports romance gem. Taking place in NJ was icing on the cake. • Great read with wonderful characters

    By tsmb02(Sue G.)
Logan Hart, is the brother of Jessica Hart, that we met in The Heat of the Moment by Katie Rose. Logan has been in Europe playing soccer and is finally back in the U.S. now playing for the New Jersey Hurricanes. Logan is tall, sexy and ripped with bulging muscles. Throw in crystal blue eyes and a perfect smile and he has lady killer written all over him. Enjoying his single life, the last thing Logan expected was to have a baby girl, Cinnamon, dumped on him by a one-night stand named Desiree. Desiree explains that she can't handle her and that it is his turn and turns and walks out. OMG...I loved that scene! Just what is a single jock to do with a 3 month old baby? First Logan calls his sister, Jessica. She comes over and helps him with a few basics but then gives him the number of a nanny agency. Calling the agency, Logan finds out that they can send Isabella Bennett to help and he feels a little relief. Isabella's not too happy having to deal with another spoiled athlete but she takes the job anyways. Wished I had an Isabella as a nanny! She was wonderful! To Logan she was a lifesaver. It didn't hurt that she was really beautiful too! Knowing that Bella is the nanny, Logan knows he should keep his hands off, but is having a really hard time with that! It doesn't help that Bella is drawn to Logan too! The scenes in the beginning when they were trying to get things settled was great. Such emotions and chemistry just waiting to explode. I just loved the way Logan's mom was! That was such a fun part to the story line! When things have finally heated up, Bella starts to feel guilty because of something from her past. She knows she needs to tell Logan but just can't. Logan is trying to find Desiree because she has just disappeared. As each day passes, Logan is starting to have real feelings for Cinnamon and Bella. Just when it looks like things are going to end up happy for everyone....BOOM! It all blows up. This was sure an emotional part of the story! My heart ached for everyone. The way everything finally came back together was great, even though it was a tough road to get there. Overall, this was a great read with wonderful characters and I would highly recommend it!
  • 3.5 Stars!

    By ~Mindy Lou~
3.5 Stars! Single fatherhood is thrust upon professional soccer star Logan Hart with a 3 month old baby. The mother claims the child is his and she can no longer take care of her, leaving the baby with him and walking away. Isabella is a certifies nanny called in to help Logan while he sorts the situation out. He's sure there's a mistake and the baby isn't his, yet he refuses to pawn her off on social services. While this was a good story line and likeable characters, I struggled a bit connecting with this story. It may seem minor but the reaction to Isabella taking the baby to one of Logan's games was unrealistic to me as well as the reaction from the coach. What I did like was how the author ended the story. ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
