Mr. Shaka is a great author. You will have a new outlook on how prisoners should be treated in this failure of a criminal justice system. Most importantly you will have a new sense of HOPE for change!

I teach in a prison program, and I'm always hunting for books to read to help me better relate to what my students are going through. I finished it in two days. Couldn't put it down. Thank you for sharing your journey.

Extremely well-written, this book is a page-turner filled with moments of sorrow, anger, excitement and disappointment. His story is captivating. His personal insight revelatory. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.

Good book. Captivating. Gives me a perspective of my students that I only peripherally thought about. Was hoping that he would have made contact with the victims after he got out. If he did he never said. Would have been interesting.

As a child of a parent who was incarcerated, that book really touches on major issues in the black community. Great read!!!!

I recently saw Shakur on OWN being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey . I learnt about this book then and I was eager to purchase it. I ordered it the same day. It is such an interesting book and the author is such a great story teller . I was so sorry when the book ended. Thanks Oprah for bringing this wonderful author to my attention .
