The Time Machine Girls: Book One: Secrets Ernestine Tito Jones & R. L. Monty Book Review Score: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars

Don't go in the attic...
Eight-year-old Hazel and her little sister, Bess, have more than 100 rules to follow while visiting their grandparents' farmhouse for the summer. But the biggest one is not to go into the attic. So, of course, that's also the first one Hazel's 6-year-old sister decides to break.

But the girls never expected to uncover a family secret that involves a hidden time machine and their mysterious (and grumpy) grandpa. They also never expected they'd be traveling through time, meeting historical figures, dodging danger, and learning all about the very events that helped shape history.

In the first book, the girls travel to 1738 to meet a young George Washington.

This book is awesome! I love it I love it I love it!!! 2 girls, a time machine in the attic, something a kid could love! I have read stories about time machines, but not as exciting as this! Hazel and Bess go into a time machine, and get stuck in 1736. Can they come back to the Present before dinner~ more importenly, before anyone finds out??? Read the book and find out, and it is also a catchy tittle.

It was okay. I enjoyed it, and is nice to read by the poolside. I am rating this a ⭐️because it is a very interesting storyline. it covers a lot of information about the characters, so I only have a few questions, which is good. I think this "new-author" should be proud. The problem is these characters are not well-developed, and I felt like I needed to know more about Hazel. I get two impressions from the girls. 1) Bess: will someday be egging on people to try alcohol or drugs 2) Hazel: will someday be a origination-freak. I think Hazel needs to be more defined. She seems...too perfect and needs to have an inside, you know? Like, Hazel needs to have a bad part to her. Unlike most goody-two-shoes, Hazel doesn't have a guilty pleasure or whatever, and I feel like she is just fake. This is my honest opinion. I love the story, and I think this author needs some tweaking but then will be absolutely amazing. Love, a 12-year old girl, Ava

It was smart of the Author to give the first book for free because I wound up giving it a try and am soooo glad I did because this story is fun for both my 6 year old daughter and me. I wish I could write like this, Ernestine really understands how to make a story interesting and relatable for a young reader. I just purchased Books 2 and 3 and my daughter cannot wait to read them.
